CHARLIE ROSE: Wes Moore’s a former Rhodes scholar, a decorated combat
veteran, a White House fellow and a businessman. Ten years ago he
discovered the existence of another Wes Moore, a man who is similar in age
and also from his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. But the life of this
other Wes Moore took a very different turn. He is currently serving a life
sentence without parole for his part in a robbery attempt that resulted in
the murder of an off-duty police officer. The two men began a
correspondence. It led to prison visits, it led to a friendship. Moore
chronicles this relationship in his new book, "The Other Wes Moore." I’m
pleased to have him here at this table for the first time. Welcome.
WES MOORE: Thank you very much.
CHARLIE ROSE: This is a remarkable story. But let me just begin with
your story first. Tell me about growing up. Tell me about -- especially
about your mother.
