Do Middle Class Voters Cast the Right Votes? from The Takeaway: Early Edition by feedback@thetakeaway.org (Public Radio International and WNYC Radio)
Today we've been talking in part about the middle class, and an oft-repeated mantra of some who want to reform the way financial power works in Washington is that the middle class vote consistently against their own interests. But is that true? If so, what are the middle class's real interests, and how do they vote against them, when they support members of both parties in Congress? Jacob Hacker, professor of political science at Yale University, answers some of these questions in the book he co-authored, "Winner-Take-All Politics: How Washington Made the Rich Richer, and Turned Its Back on the Middle Class."
