Meadowlark Lemon on Basketball, Charity, and the Globetrotters from The Takeaway: Early Edition by feedback@thetakeaway.org (Public Radio International and WNYC Radio)

Even if you’re not a sports fan, chances are you know the name Meadowlark Lemon. For 24 years, he played with the Harlem Globetrotters. Over the past five decades, his audiences have included popes, kings, and every U.S. president since Eisenhower. In total, he’s played over 16,000 career games — more than any other player in basketball history. Along the way, he’s starred on several television shows, been inducted into the NBA hall of fame, become an ordained minister, and formed the Meadowlark Lemon Foundation. Meadowlark Lemon is the author of a new book called “Trust Your Next Shot: A Guide to a Life of Joy.”
